Viburnum are evergreen or deciduous shrubs with dense, green foliage and lovely star-shaped flowers which bloom from late Winter until the Spring. The flowers of many Viburnum are highly fragranced so are fabulous when planted by a pathway or entrance where they can be fully appreciated.

Viburnum can be used as an informal hedge and are tolerant of partial shade. They are best suited to moist, well-drained and moderately fertile soil which can be achieved by adding good quality compost.

They are very easy to care for and only need minimal pruning to remove any unwanted growth. This should be done in mid-summer after flowering.

• Growth Habit: Viburnum Carlcephalum  has a bushy, rounded growth habit, typically reaching a height of about 1.5 to 2.5 meters and a similar spread.
• Flowers: Domed clusters of fragrant, white flowers opening from pink buds in May and broadly heart-shaped, dark green leaves, turning red in autumn.
