About Euonymus Emerald Gaiety 3 Litre Pot

Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald Gaiety', also known as Emerald Gaiety Spindle, is a compact, evergreen shrub widely used in UK gardens for its vibrant variegated foliage. Its small, oval leaves are dark green with striking white edges that often take on a pinkish tint during colder winter months, adding seasonal interest. Typically growing to about 1 metre tall and wide, 'Emerald Gaiety' is an ideal choice for ground cover, edging, or as part of mixed borders.

  • Position: Thrives in full sun to partial shade, though foliage variegation is often more pronounced in sunnier spots.
  • Soil: Prefers well-drained soil but can adapt to various soil types, including chalky, sandy, or clay soils.
  • Watering: Generally low-maintenance; regular watering in the first year helps establish roots, after which it becomes drought-tolerant.

Euonymus 'Emerald Gaiety' is hardy in UK climates and can withstand pollution, making it suitable for urban gardens. Its dense foliage and compact growth make it an effective choice for low hedging, ground cover, or even as a trailing plant on walls or slopes. With minimal care, it provides year-round structure and texture, adding a pop of colour to shaded and sunny spots alike.
