About Thuja Occidentalis Emerald Root Ball 180-200cm

Thuja occidentalis ‘Emerald’ – Root Ball 180–200cm

A Lush, Elegant Evergreen for Tall, Formal Hedges

Thuja occidentalis ‘Emerald’, also known as Smaragd, is a slow-to-moderate growing conifer celebrated for its dense, rich emerald-green foliage and tight, narrow form. Supplied at 180–200cm in root ball format, these mature plants are perfect for creating a smart, vertical screen with year-round colour and minimal maintenance.

More refined in shape than Thuja ‘Brabant’, ‘Emerald’ is the go-to choice for formal evergreen hedging where symmetry, structure, and low upkeep are essential.

Key Features

  • Supplied Height: 180–200cm (excluding root ball)

  • Growth Rate: Moderate – 20–30cm per year

  • Foliage: Glossy, rich green all year; retains colour even in winter

  • Form: Naturally slender and upright, no trimming needed for shape

  • Spacing: 60–75cm apart for a dense hedge

  • Planting Season: Best planted October to April (root ball season)
