How to Grow and Care for Your Salvia × jamensis 'Magical Amour'
Soil – Prefers light, free-draining soils. Suitable for sandy, loamy, and gravelly soils; dislikes heavy or waterlogged ground.
Light – Requires full sun for the best flower production and healthiest growth.
Watering – Water regularly during establishment. Once mature, it becomes highly drought-tolerant, needing only occasional watering during dry spells.
Maintenance:
-
Pruning – Lightly trim after each flush of blooms to promote reblooming. In early spring, prune more firmly to refresh the plant and maintain shape.
-
Mulching – Mulch lightly in spring to help retain soil moisture and suppress weeds, keeping mulch away from the crown.
-
Pest & Disease Resistance – Generally pest- and disease-resistant; occasional mildew can occur in humid conditions.
-
Cold Hardy – Hardy to about -5°C to -10°C. In colder areas, provide winter protection or grow in containers to move under shelter.
