An outstanding evergreen shrub celebrated for its spectacular spring display of fiery red new growth and cascading white flowers.
New foliage emerges brilliant flame-red in spring, gradually transitioning through shades of pink and bronze before maturing to glossy dark green. Abundant white lily-of-the-valley-like flowers cascade from the branches in spring, creating a stunning contrast.
Woodland gardens, shaded borders, patio containers with ericaceous compost, and acid-loving plant collections. Excellent planted with Rhododendrons, Camellias, and Acers.
Plant in partial shade in acidic, moist, well-drained soil. Mulch with ericaceous compost annually. Water with rainwater where possible in chalky areas. Protect from strong winds and late frosts which can damage new growth. No pruning required.
Combine with Rhododendrons, Camellias, Acers, Heucheras, and spring bulbs. Plant alongside ferns and Hostas for a classic woodland combination.
A truly stunning shrub that brings drama and elegance to shaded gardens.
