About Ilex mes. Heckenfee 160/180cm Bushy Root Ball Delivery from October

Ilex meserveae ‘Heckenfee’ – Blue Holly

Ilex meserveae ‘Heckenfee’, also known as Blue Holly ‘Heckenfee’, is a superb evergreen holly variety, bred especially for hedging and screening. Its glossy, dark green leaves with a distinctive blue sheen form a dense, spiny hedge that remains attractive year-round.

In spring, small white flowers appear, followed by bright red berries in autumn and winter, provided a pollinator such as ‘Heckenstar’ (male) is nearby. The berries are highly ornamental and much loved by birds, adding wildlife value and seasonal colour.

Compact, hardy, and tolerant of pruning, ‘Heckenfee’ is an ideal choice for evergreen hedging, formal gardens, or natural screens. Its excellent disease resistance and resilience in exposed or urban sites make it a low-maintenance, long-lasting solution for year-round structure.

Why Choose Ilex meserveae ‘Heckenfee’?

  • Evergreen Structure – Dense, glossy, spiny foliage for screening all year.

  • Seasonal Interest – Red winter berries when pollinated by a male holly.

  • Wildlife Value – Nectar for pollinators, berries for birds.

  • Hardy & Reliable – Excellent resilience in exposed and urban conditions.

  • Soil: Any well-drained, fertile soil.
