Ilex × aquipernyi 'Dragon Lady' (Dragon Lady Holly)

A striking evergreen holly with a strong architectural presence, Ilex × aquipernyi 'Dragon Lady' is a female cultivar prized for its upright, pyramidal form and glossy, spiny foliage. It produces vibrant red berries in autumn and winter, provided a male holly is nearby for pollination.

Planting Advice

Dragon Lady holly thrives in moist but well-drained soil and prefers a position in full sun to partial shade. It tolerates a range of soil types, including clay and loam, and benefits from mulching to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Water well during dry spells, especially in the first few years after planting. A slow-release fertiliser in spring will support healthy growth.
