Hydrangea are deciduous shrubs and climbers. They are grown for their beautiful flowers that last throughout the Summer and Autumn. Hydrangea leaves are narrowly ovate and change colour through Autumn from green to orange-brown Hydrangea like to grown in sun and partial shade, they thrive best in fertile and well-drained soil. There are two main types, the old fashioned shrubby type and the woody formed.

Hydrangea paniculata Vanille Fraise is a large sized woody form that bears very large pinkish white flowers in early  and mid-autumn. Prune back to previous seasons shoots to within a few buds of the woody frame-work in spring to obtain best blooms. Plant in sun or semi-shade in moist fertile soil.
