About Fatsia japonica 'Spider's Web' - Variegated Japanese Aralia 3 Litre Pot

Fatsia japonica 'Spider's Web'

A spectacular variegated form of Japanese Aralia that illuminates shaded spaces with its dramatic white-splashed foliage and bold architectural presence.

Seasonal Highlights

The large palmate leaves, heavily marked with white variegation, create stunning year-round interest. In autumn, spherical clusters of creamy-white flowers appear, attracting late-season pollinators, followed by black berries in winter.

Key Features

  • Large glossy leaves dramatically variegated with white
  • Bold architectural form with tropical appearance
  • Creamy-white autumn flowers rich in nectar
  • Brightens shaded areas where few plants excel
  • Evergreen structure throughout the year

Perfect For

Outstanding in shaded courtyards, woodland gardens, containers, or as a focal point in dark corners. Ideal for adding brightness and bold texture to north-facing borders and urban gardens.

Growing Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained soil in partial to full shade; shelter from cold winds and harsh sun which can scorch variegated leaves. Water regularly until established. Mulch annually. Remove any all-green shoots promptly to maintain variegation. Protect from severe frosts in exposed sites.

Looks Great With

Stunning with Heuchera, Hosta, ferns like Polystichum, and Anemone × hybrida. Contrasts beautifully with dark-leaved plants such as Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Nigrescens'.

An exceptional variegated evergreen that brings luminous drama and architectural impact to shaded gardens.
