About Exochorda serratifolia Snow White 10 Litre Pot

Exochorda serratifolia ‘Snow White’

Graceful, luminous and utterly uplifting in spring, Exochorda serratifolia ‘Snow White’ – often known as the Pearl Bush – is one of those shrubs that quietly transforms a garden for a few unforgettable weeks each year.

In April and May, slender arching stems are smothered in pure white, star-shaped flowers, each opening from rounded, pearl-like buds that shimmer against fresh green foliage. The effect is soft yet striking – a cloud of blossom that seems to glow even on overcast days.

Why it earns its place

  • Masses of crisp white spring flowers

  • Elegant, arching habit with a naturally airy structure

  • Reliable and hardy across the UK

  • Beautiful in mixed borders or as a standalone feature

‘Snow White’ forms a rounded shrub, typically reaching around 2–3 metres in height and spread over time. Its serrated mid-green leaves provide a fresh backdrop during the growing season, before fading quietly in autumn.

Perfect for…

  • Cottage and informal gardens

  • Mixed shrub borders

  • Planting against brick or dark fencing where the white flowers can shine

  • Softening corners or filling gaps with light and movement

It pairs beautifully with spring favourites such as tulips, forget-me-nots and early flowering perennials, weaving a romantic, layered look.

Growing conditions

Exochorda ‘Snow White’ is refreshingly straightforward:

  • Position: Full sun to light shade

  • Soil: Moist but well-drained; tolerant of most garden soils

  • Care: Lightly prune after flowering to maintain shape and encourage fresh flowering wood

Once established, it’s low maintenance and reliably floriferous.

xceed expectations year after year.
