Erodium Bishop's Form 2 Litre Pot

A charming and long-flowering hardy perennial, Erodium 'Bishop's Form' (Heron's bill) is a compact, mound-forming plant that produces a succession of delicate, deep magenta-pink blooms with darker veining from late spring right through to autumn. Neat, ferny foliage and a naturally tidy habit make it an excellent choice for the front of a border, a rock garden, or a sunny container display.

Habit & Appearance

Low, cushion-forming growth — Erodium 'Bishop's Form' develops into a neat, spreading mound of attractive, deeply divided, grey-green foliage that remains appealing even when not in flower. The blooms are saucer-shaped and richly coloured in vivid cerise-pink with distinctive dark feathering on the upper petals, giving them real character and presence. Flowering is prolific and exceptionally long-lasting, providing months of colour from May through to October.

Growing Conditions

Full sun and excellent drainage are key — this plant thrives in an open, sunny position and performs best in well-drained or even poor, gritty soil. It is ideally suited to rock gardens, raised beds, gravel gardens, and the edges of sunny borders where it will not sit in wet conditions over winter. Avoid heavy, waterlogged clay soils, as good drainage is essential to its long-term health. Once established, Erodium 'Bishop's Form' is notably drought tolerant and asks for very little additional watering.

Care & Pruning

Easy to maintain with minimal effort — this is a largely unfussy perennial that rewards a little attention with a remarkably long flowering season. Deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage continuous flower production throughout summer and into autumn. Cut back any untidy or straggly growth in early spring to keep the plant compact and to encourage fresh new foliage. A light top-dressing of grit around the base can help improve drainage and protect the crown during wet winters. Hardy in most UK conditions, it requires no special winter protection in a well-drained site.
