Digitalis ‘Dalmatian Purple’ – Early Purple Foxglove with Strong Garden Presence
Digitalis ‘Dalmatian Purple’ is a striking, early-flowering foxglove that brings bold colour and vertical interest to the garden from its first year. Producing tall, elegant spikes of deep purple tubular flowers, each bloom is beautifully marked within the throat, creating a classic foxglove display with added intensity of colour.
Unlike traditional biennial varieties, this modern selection flowers quickly and reliably, making it ideal for instant impact in borders and seasonal planting schemes. The blooms are held on sturdy, upright stems above a neat rosette of green foliage, providing height and structure without becoming overly tall or difficult to manage.
Its compact habit makes it particularly well suited to smaller gardens, as well as containers and front-to-mid border positions. The rich purple tones add depth and contrast, pairing especially well with softer pastels, whites, or silver foliage.
Thriving in sun or partial shade, ‘Dalmatian Purple’ prefers moist, well-drained soil and benefits from a sheltered position to protect the flower spikes. Deadheading can encourage a secondary flush of blooms, extending its display further into the season.
Bold, reliable, and easy to grow, this vibrant foxglove is an excellent choice for adding colour, height, and structure to a wide range of garden styles.
