Cyclamen persicum 'Verona White' is a beautifully pure and elegant florist's cyclamen, bearing an abundance of pristine white blooms above a mound of classically marbled, silver-patterned foliage. A refined and timeless choice for cool indoor spaces during the autumn and winter months, it brings effortless grace and a long-lasting display of colour when the garden has little else to offer.

Habit & Appearance

Compact and free-flowering, 'Verona White' produces a dense rosette of heart-shaped, dark green leaves richly decorated with intricate silver and pewter marbling — handsome and ornamental in their own right throughout the season. Above the foliage, slender stems carry a generous succession of swept-back, butterfly-like blooms in a clean, luminous white, creating a display that feels both fresh and sophisticated. The flowers are produced continuously over many weeks, making this one of the most rewarding cyclamen for a long winter season of interest indoors.

Growing Conditions

Position. Like all Cyclamen persicum, 'Verona White' performs best in cool, bright, indirect light. A well-lit windowsill away from direct sunlight and the drying heat of radiators or other heat sources is ideal. Temperatures between 10–18°C suit it perfectly — a cool hallway, porch, or lightly heated room will keep it flowering for considerably longer than a warm living room. Outdoors, it can be enjoyed in a sheltered spot during mild spells, but must always be protected from frost.

Soil & watering. Plant into a free-draining, peat-free compost, ensuring the corm sits slightly proud of the surface rather than being buried. Good drainage is essential, as waterlogged conditions will quickly lead to corm rot. Water from below by standing the pot briefly in a tray of water and allowing it to drain fully, keeping the crown and corm dry at all times.

Care

Feeding & maintenance. Keep the compost consistently moist but never saturated, allowing the surface to dry slightly between waterings. Apply a balanced liquid fertiliser every two to three weeks while the plant is actively growing and in flower. Remove spent blooms and yellowing leaves promptly by twisting and pulling each stem cleanly away at the base — avoid cutting, as remaining stumps can rot and spread to the corm. Regular deadheading encourages the plant to continue producing fresh flowers throughout the season.

After flowering. As blooming comes to an end in late spring, gradually reduce watering and allow the foliage to die back naturally, signalling the start of summer dormancy. Store the corm in its pot in a cool, dry place over the summer months. In early autumn, repot into fresh compost, resume careful watering, and return the plant to a cool, bright position to encourage a new season of growth and flowers.
