About Cyclamen Verona Mix 6 Pack 9cm Pot
Cyclamen persicum 'Verona Mix' is a beautiful collection of florist's cyclamen, bringing together a charming blend of soft and vibrant shades — from delicate white and blush pink through to rich rose, salmon and deep cerise. A perennial favourite for brightening the home through the cooler months, this mix offers all the elegance and long-lasting colour that makes Cyclamen persicum one of the most beloved seasonal houseplants.
Habit & Appearance
Compact and free-flowering, 'Verona Mix' forms a neat, mounding rosette of heart-shaped, dark green leaves beautifully marked with intricate silver and pewter patterning — ornamental in their own right even before the first buds open. Above the foliage, slender stems carry an abundance of swept-back, butterfly-like blooms in a pleasing mixture of colours, creating a naturally varied and eye-catching display. Plants flower prolifically and continuously over many weeks, making them an outstanding choice for windowsill arrangements and container groupings throughout autumn and winter.
Growing Conditions
Position. 'Verona Mix' performs best in cool, bright, indirect light indoors. A well-lit windowsill away from harsh direct sun is ideal. Cyclamen persicum dislikes warm, stuffy conditions and will flag quickly near radiators, open fires, or draughty vents. Cooler rooms — a hallway, porch, or lightly heated conservatory — suit it particularly well and will significantly extend the flowering season. During mild spells, plants can be enjoyed in a sheltered outdoor position, but must always be brought inside well before any risk of frost, as this cyclamen is not frost hardy.
Soil & compost. Grow in a well-drained, peat-free compost with good drainage holes in the pot. The corm should sit just at or slightly proud of the compost surface rather than buried deeply. Waterlogged conditions must be avoided, as they quickly cause corm rot and the decline of the plant.
Care
Watering. Keep the compost consistently moist but never saturated. The most reliable method is to water from below — stand the pot in a shallow dish of water for around 30 minutes, then lift it out and allow it to drain completely before returning it to its position. This keeps moisture away from the crown and corm, where excess water can cause rot. Allow the compost surface to dry slightly between waterings and avoid getting water on the foliage or flowers.
Feeding & deadheading. Feed every two weeks with a balanced liquid fertiliser while plants are actively growing and flowering. Remove spent blooms and any yellowing leaves promptly by gently twisting and pulling the entire stem away cleanly at the base — do not cut, as the remaining stump can rot and spread to the corm. Regular deadheading encourages the plant to produce a continuous succession of fresh flowers throughout the season.
After Flowering
Once flowering comes to an end in late spring, gradually reduce watering to allow the plant to enter its natural summer dormancy. Store the corm in its pot in a cool, dry place out of direct sun. In early autumn, repot into fresh compost, position the corm with its top just at the surface, and resume careful watering. Return the plant to a cool, bright spot indoors to encourage a new season of growth and another generous display of flowers.
