About Cotinus Golden Spirit 12 Litre Pot 80/100cm

Cotinus coggygria ‘Golden Spirit’ – The Radiant Golden Smoke Bush

Cotinus coggygria ‘Golden Spirit’ brings a burst of sunshine to the garden with its vibrant golden-yellow foliage that glows from spring right through the growing season. Unlike its purple-leaved relatives, this variety offers a luminous, uplifting presence, creating a striking contrast in mixed borders and modern planting schemes.

In summer, airy clouds of soft, smoke-like flower plumes drift above the leaves, adding a touch of lightness and romance to its bold colour. As autumn approaches, the foliage transforms into a dazzling display of fiery orange, scarlet, and coral tones, making this a shrub that offers three full seasons of interest.

Hardy and low-maintenance, ‘Golden Spirit’ thrives in full sun, where its colour is most intense, and adapts well to a variety of soils. Whether used as a standalone feature, as part of a bold colour combination, or to bring warmth to a cool-toned planting scheme, it is a shrub that never fails to draw the eye.

Why Choose Cotinus coggygria ‘Golden Spirit’?

  • Brilliant Foliage – Golden leaves with fiery autumn tones.

  • Summer Plumes – Ethereal, smoke-like flowers.

  • Three Seasons of Colour – Spring through autumn.

  • Versatile – Works in borders, contemporary gardens, or as a specimen.

  • Position: Full sun for brightest colour.

  • Soil: Well-drained; tolerates poor soils.
