Growing conditions

Care
Watering: Water regularly after planting to help the root system establish. Once settled in, 'Caroline Upright' is reasonably drought-tolerant but will benefit from consistent moisture during prolonged dry spells, particularly in free-draining soils.

Pests and disease: Ilex crenata is notably free from the serious diseases that affect Box and some other clipped evergreens. It is not susceptible to box blight, making it a reliable and low-risk choice for long-term formal planting schemes.
