Berberis thunbergii ‘Orange Rocket’ – Fiery Foliage, Compact Form
Berberis thunbergii ‘Orange Rocket’ is a striking, upright, deciduous shrub (H 1.2–1.5 m) prized for its vibrant seasonal foliage. In spring, young leaves emerge in vivid shades of fiery orange-red, providing a bold splash of colour. As summer arrives, the foliage matures to green flushed with red, before turning a brilliant scarlet in autumn, ensuring long-lasting seasonal drama. Its columnar habit makes it perfect for smaller gardens, narrow borders, or as an accent plant in mixed schemes. Small yellow spring flowers attract pollinators, followed by glossy red berries that provide food for birds. Fully hardy (H6) and easy to care for, it’s a versatile shrub that combines colour, structure, and wildlife value.
