Aucuba japonica 'Rozannie' - Compact Spotted Laurel
This compact evergreen shrub offers year-round interest with its dense, glossy dark green foliage and exceptional berry production. Unlike many aucubas, 'Rozannie' is self-fertile, producing abundant clusters of bright red berries without needing a pollination partner, making it ideal for smaller gardens.
Seasonal Highlights
Maintains attractive evergreen foliage throughout the year. Small reddish-purple flowers appear in spring, followed by a profuse display of bright red berries from autumn through winter, providing valuable food for wildlife and vibrant colour when little else is performing.

Growing Tips
Plant in any well-drained soil in partial to full shade. Tolerates some sun but performs best in shade. Prune lightly in spring if needed to maintain compact shape. Water regularly during establishment and prolonged dry periods. Feed in spring with general fertiliser to encourage berry production.
Looks Great With
Pairs beautifully with ferns, hellebores, and winter-flowering heathers. Plant alongside evergreen grasses like Carex or Liriope for textural contrast. Complements gold-variegated plants such as Euonymus or variegated holly for a bright display in shaded areas.
