View full detailsPhysocarpus or nine bark are deciduous shrubs with peeling bark. They have alternate, kidney-shaped leaves. Nine bark are grown for their foliage and flowers. The flowers, borne in early summer, are usually white and form a cup shape.
Often located in mixed flower borders or sometimes seen as an informal hedge within the cottage garden look.
Physocarpus are best grown in full sun although some varieties can tolerate partial shade. In well-draining soil.
In spring add a granular multipurpose fertiliser which should be plenty then for the rest of the growing season.
