Common name: Williams Pear | Bartlett (in USA)
Form: ½ Standard | 10L Pot
A classic heritage variety, Williams' Bon Chrétien is a superb dessert pear with smooth, pale yellow skin and sweet, aromatic, juicy flesh. It’s one of the finest-flavoured pears for eating fresh, bottling, and poaching. This half-standard form features a clear stem topped with a lollipop-style head, ideal for compact gardens, formal layouts, or container planting.
In spring, the tree bears clusters of white blossom, which are attractive to pollinators. While not self-fertile, it crops well with a compatible pear nearby (pollination group 3). Prune to maintain shape and improve fruit production.
Best in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil. Hardy and productive in UK gardens.
Supplied as: ½ standard tree in 7.5L pot
Ultimate height and spread: Approx. 3–4m × 2–3m (prune to maintain size)
Position: Full sun
Soil type: Fertile, well-drained
Pollination group: 3 – not self-fertile
Suitable for: Eating fresh, cooking, container growing, small gardens
