One of the most celebrated panicle hydrangeas, renowned for its enormous cone-shaped flowerheads and stunning colour evolution. This vigorous deciduous shrub produces spectacular lime-green blooms that gradually transform through shades of pink to burgundy red, providing months of evolving colour from summer through autumn.
From mid-summer onwards, large upright panicles up to 30cm long emerge in fresh lime-green. As the season progresses, the flowers age gracefully through creamy tones to pink, finally deepening to rich burgundy red in autumn. The sturdy stems support these heavy blooms admirably. Flowerheads hold well into winter and make superb dried flowers.
Exceptional in mixed borders, cottage gardens and contemporary schemes. Perfect as a specimen plant or hedge. Ideal for adding height and structure to sunny borders. Outstanding in large containers. Excellent for cutting fresh or drying for arrangements.
Plant in full sun to partial shade in moisture-retentive, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Flowers on new wood, so prune hard in late winter to promote strong flowering stems and maintain size. Water regularly during dry periods. Feed in spring with balanced fertilizer and mulch annually.
Stunning alongside purple foliage plants like cotinus and berberis. Pairs beautifully with roses, ornamental grasses and late-flowering perennials. The lime flowers complement blue and purple salvias. Works well with sedums and asters for autumn interest.
A garden superstar that delivers outstanding performance and spectacular colour evolution with simple care, perfect for creating impact in any sunny or partially shaded position.
