Cytisus × praecox ‘Albus’ – Early-Flowering White Broom for Spring Gardens
Cytisus × praecox ‘Albus’ is a graceful and early-flowering broom, producing a profusion of pure white flowers in spring. The delicate pea-shaped blooms line the slender, arching stems, creating a soft cloud of colour that brightens sunny borders.
The fine green stems give the plant a light and airy appearance, allowing it to blend effortlessly into naturalistic planting schemes. Its open, arching habit makes it especially effective in gravel gardens, coastal planting, and cottage-style borders.
Flowering earlier than many other broom varieties, ‘Albus’ brings welcome brightness to the garden at the start of the season. The flowers are lightly fragrant and attractive to bees and other pollinators.
Brooms are well known for their ability to thrive in poor or sandy soils, making them ideal for challenging sites where other shrubs may struggle. Once established, Cytisus × praecox ‘Albus’ is drought tolerant and requires very little maintenance.
Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, this hardy shrub benefits from light pruning immediately after flowering to maintain its shape.
Elegant, resilient, and wonderfully free-flowering, Cytisus × praecox ‘Albus’ is a beautiful choice for bringing fresh white spring colour to sunny gardens.
