Growth rates are rapid – broadly comparable to the green Leyland cypress – and branching is naturally dense from the base upwards, making it equally well suited to formal clipped hedging and informal specimen planting. Growing Conditions

Best in sun, tolerant of a wide range of soils and sites. In deeper shade, the foliage tends towards a more yellow-green tone, losing much of the cultivar's distinctive visual appeal. It is accommodating of most well-drained soils, including clay, loam, chalk and sandy soils, and tolerates both mildly acid and mildly alkaline conditions without difficulty.
