Yew Hedging – The Ultimate Evergreen Hedge for British Gardens

Yew (Taxus baccata) is widely regarded as the finest evergreen hedging plant available, prized for its dense growth, rich dark green foliage, and remarkable longevity. A traditional feature of British gardens for centuries, it creates elegant formal hedges that provide year-round structure, privacy, and architectural beauty.

The soft, dark green needles form a dense, compact hedge that responds exceptionally well to clipping. Whether maintained as a low boundary, a tall privacy screen, or intricate topiary, Yew retains a crisp and refined appearance throughout the year.

One of Yew's greatest advantages is its versatility. It thrives equally well in full sun, partial shade, and even deep shade, making it suitable for almost any garden situation. It is also one of the few hedging plants capable of regenerating from old wood, allowing mature hedges to be renovated successfully if required.

Slow to moderate growing, Yew develops into an incredibly durable hedge that can last for generations when properly maintained. Its dense evergreen habit provides excellent shelter for wildlife and creates a highly effective windbreak and privacy screen.

Hardy, reliable, and timeless, Yew is the preferred choice for formal gardens, country estates, contemporary landscapes, and traditional boundary planting alike.

Seasonal Beauty & Growth

Spring: Fresh dark green growth emerges, increasing density.
