Salix × erythroflexuosa – The Twisted Golden Willow
Salix × erythroflexuosa is a highly decorative, deciduous small tree (H 6–8 m) prized for its twisting, spiralling branches and golden-yellow young stems. In winter, its contorted silhouette becomes a dramatic architectural feature, especially when illuminated by low sunlight. Come spring, slender green leaves unfurl, creating a soft, textured canopy through summer. By autumn, the foliage warms to shades of golden yellow, complementing the glowing stems. Hardy (H6), vigorous, and easy to grow, this willow is ideal for larger gardens where it can provide year-round interest, particularly as a specimen tree or in naturalistic planting schemes.
