Edgeworthia grandiflora – The Exquisite Paperbush with Fragrant Winter Flowers
Edgeworthia grandiflora, commonly known as the Paperbush, is a striking deciduous shrub admired for its architectural form and intoxicatingly fragrant flowers that herald the arrival of spring. Emerging in late winter to early spring, its clusters of tubular, creamy yellow flowers create a soft, elegant display that perfumes the air and brightens the garden when few other plants are in bloom.
The plant’s bold, twisting branches add year-round architectural interest, even when the leaves have fallen, making it an excellent specimen for sheltered garden spots where it can be admired up close. In spring, fresh, lance-shaped green leaves unfold, enhancing its lush appearance as the season progresses.
