A magnificent architectural evergreen that brings bold tropical impact to shaded areas with its large glossy palmate leaves and striking autumn flowers.
Dramatic foliage provides year-round structure and lushness. In autumn, rounded clusters of creamy-white flowers emerge on branching stems, providing late-season nectar for pollinators. These are followed by clusters of small black berries in winter.
Excellent for shaded courtyards, woodland gardens, urban spaces, or as a container specimen. Ideal for adding bold foliage texture to dark corners and north-facing borders.
Plant in moist, well-drained soil in partial to full shade; sheltered from cold winds. Tolerates coastal conditions and urban pollution. Water regularly until established. Mulch annually. Prune only to remove damaged growth in spring. Protect from harsh frosts in exposed positions.
Complements ferns such as Dryopteris, Hosta, Astilbe, and shade-loving grasses like Hakonechloa. Contrasts beautifully with fine-textured evergreens.
A stunning evergreen that transforms shaded spaces with exotic architectural presence.
