Azalea mollis ‘Golden Topaz’ – Bright Golden Azalea for Late Spring Colour
Azalea mollis ‘Golden Topaz’ is a vibrant deciduous azalea, prized for its glowing golden-yellow flowers that appear in late spring. The large, trumpet-shaped blooms are carried in clusters along the branches, creating a warm and luminous display that brightens borders and woodland gardens.
The flowers often emerge as the fresh green foliage begins to develop, allowing their vivid colour to stand out clearly. Planted in groups or alongside other azaleas and rhododendrons, ‘Golden Topaz’ creates striking seasonal combinations that add warmth and brightness to the garden.
Its upright, bushy habit makes it ideal for mixed borders and woodland-style planting schemes, where it pairs beautifully with ferns, hostas, and other shade-loving plants. The shrub also develops soft autumn tones as the season changes, adding further interest.
Thriving in partial shade and acidic, well-drained soil, Azalea ‘Golden Topaz’ benefits from soil enriched with organic matter and regular mulching with ericaceous compost. Once established, it is hardy and dependable, requiring little maintenance beyond occasional shaping after flowering.
Bright, uplifting, and easy to grow, ‘Golden Topaz’ is an excellent choice for bringing golden spring colour to shaded gardens.
