Sempervivium spp.
Common name: Houseleeks
Semperviviums are hardy, drought-tolerant alpine succulents known for their rosettes of fleshy, geometric leaves in a wide range of colours – from green to red, bronze, or purple. These tough, low-growing perennials are perfect for rockeries, gravel gardens, pots, walls, and green roofs.
They thrive in poor, well-drained soils and require minimal care, spreading gradually by offsets ("chicks") around the main rosette ("hen"). In summer, they may produce tall flower spikes, after which the flowering rosette dies back – but new offsets carry on growing.
Fully hardy and excellent for dry, sunny spots with good drainage. Ideal for low-maintenance planting.
Ultimate height and spread:
5–10cm high × 20–30cm spread
Position: Full sun
Soil type: Poor, sandy or stony, well-drained
Suitable for: Rockeries, pots, green roofs, gravel gardens, alpine beds
Does the height include the pot?
No, we measure from the top of the pot to the tip of the plant except for some of the instant planted screens, in this case it will be stated in the description
