Soil – Prefers well-drained, humus-rich, slightly acidic soil but can tolerate a variety of soil types, including clay or sandy soils.
Light – Best suited to full to partial shade, although it can tolerate some sun, especially in cooler climates. It thrives in the shade, making it an ideal choice for under trees or in more densely shaded spots.

Mulching – Apply mulch in the fall to help retain moisture and protect the roots in winter.
-
Pest & Disease Resistance – Sarcococca confusa is generally resistant to pests and diseases but may occasionally suffer from aphids or fungal issues if conditions are excessively wet.
-
Cold Hardy – Hardy to around -15°C, making it suitable for a range of climates, including colder regions.
Perfect Plant Combinations
Sarcococca confusa pairs well with other shade-loving plants. Its evergreen foliage complements ferns, hostas, or hellebores. In a woodland setting, it looks lovely alongside deciduous shrubs that offer spring or summer flowers, such as viburnums or rhododendrons.
