Pyrus calleryana ‘Chanticleer’ – Upright Ornamental Pear for All-Season Elegance
Pyrus calleryana ‘Chanticleer’, commonly known as the Chanticleer Pear, is a refined ornamental tree celebrated for its narrow, upright habit, abundant spring blossom, and vibrant autumn colour. With a clean silhouette and strong architectural form, this cultivar is ideal for modern gardens, avenues, and urban landscapes, offering four-season interest with minimal maintenance.
Seasonal Beauty & Growth
Spring:
In early spring, Chanticleer bursts into bloom with masses of pure white, five-petaled flowers, creating a cloud-like display that draws pollinators and provides an uplifting start to the season.
Summer:
The tree’s glossy, dark green foliage forms a dense, symmetrical canopy that remains clean and fresh throughout the warmer months. It offers light shade while maintaining its narrow profile—perfect for confined spaces.
Autumn:
Chanticleer is one of the last trees to drop its leaves, showcasing brilliant tones of red, purple, and orange well into late autumn, extending the garden’s colour palette deep into the season.
Winter:
After leaf-fall, the tree retains its slender, upright branch structure, contributing a crisp, architectural outline to the winter garden.
