Photinia Red Robin is a striking evergreen shrub celebrated for its vibrant new foliage and glossy, dark green leaves. This variety is a popular choice for adding dynamic colour and year-round interest to any garden, making it an excellent option for hedges, screens, and standalone features.

Where Should I Site My Photinia Red Robin?

Photinia Red Robin thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained soil. It is adaptable to various soil types as long as they are not excessively wet. For the best results, plant in a location with good air circulation and consistent moisture. This shrub can be used to create dense, colourful hedges, or as a feature plant in garden beds and borders.

Growth and Pruning

Photinia Red Robin typically grows to a height of 2.5 to 4 meters with a similar spread. It has a moderate growth rate, making it relatively easy to maintain. Regular pruning helps to retain its compact and bushy form, enhancing its effectiveness as a hedge. Prune in late spring or early summer, after the initial flush of red leaves, to encourage further vibrant growth and maintain a neat appearance.
