Monarda ‘Balmy Lilac’ – Compact Bee Balm with Soft Summer Colour
Monarda ‘Balmy Lilac’ is a refined and garden-friendly bee balm, offering all the charm and wildlife appeal of traditional Monarda in a neat, compact form. From early to midsummer, it produces rounded, whorled flowers in soft lilac-mauve tones, bringing gentle colour and movement to borders and containers.
The aromatic green foliage releases a light fragrance when brushed past and shows good resistance to powdery mildew, making ‘Balmy Lilac’ a dependable choice even in smaller gardens. Its tidy, upright habit sits neatly at the front or middle of borders, blending effortlessly with perennials, grasses, and cottage-style planting schemes.
Highly attractive to bees and butterflies, this variety adds both beauty and biodiversity to the garden. It thrives in full sun and moist, well-drained soil, where it flowers freely and returns reliably each year with minimal maintenance.
Soft, elegant, and wonderfully manageable, Monarda ‘Balmy Lilac’ is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking long-lasting summer colour and pollinator appeal without excessive spread.
