Kniphofia ‘Papaya Popsicle’ – Warm Sunset Tones in a Compact Red Hot Poker
Kniphofia ‘Papaya Popsicle’ is a beautifully refined red hot poker, offering all the impact of traditional kniphofias in a much more compact, garden-friendly form. Its slender flower spikes glow in soft shades of papaya-orange and apricot, creating a warm, sunset-inspired display from early to midsummer.
Held above neat clumps of narrow, grassy green foliage, the flowers add height and movement without overwhelming surrounding plants. Their gently graduated colouring blends effortlessly into mixed borders, pairing just as well with bold summer perennials as with grasses and Mediterranean-style planting. Bees and pollinators are quick to visit the nectar-rich blooms, adding life and movement to the display.
Unlike larger, more vigorous varieties, ‘Papaya Popsicle’ stays compact and tidy, making it ideal for smaller gardens, the front or middle of borders, and large containers. Hardy, drought tolerant once established, and easy to grow, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, asking for very little maintenance.
Warm, elegant, and wonderfully manageable, Kniphofia ‘Papaya Popsicle’ is a superb choice for gardeners wanting reliable summer colour with a softer, more contemporary feel.
