Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Blacksteel White’ – Elegant White Hydrangea with Dark Stems
Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Blacksteel White’ is a striking modern hydrangea, combining crisp white blooms with dramatic dark stems for a refined and contemporary look. From summer into early autumn, large mophead flower clusters open in pure white, standing out beautifully against the contrasting near-black stems.
The lush green foliage provides a full and healthy backdrop, enhancing the clean brightness of the flowers. As the season progresses, the blooms may take on subtle green tones, extending their ornamental appeal.
Its compact, bushy habit makes ‘Blacksteel White’ ideal for borders, containers, and patio displays, where its distinctive colouring can be appreciated up close. It works particularly well in modern planting schemes or alongside other soft-toned perennials.
Thriving in sun or partial shade, this hydrangea prefers moist, well-drained soil and benefits from regular watering during dry periods. Like other macrophylla types, it flowers on old wood, so pruning should be minimal—mainly removing spent flower heads and dead stems.
Stylish, compact, and easy to grow, Hydrangea ‘Blacksteel White’ is an excellent choice for adding contrast and elegance to summer gardens.
