Description

Elaeagnus or Spotted Oleaster are a medium evergreen shrub with wide ovate leaves. They often bear fragrant flowers which grow in small clusters around the leaves and are tubular in shape. In the autumn, these flowers are sometimes followed by berries.

Elaeagnus x Ebbingei Compacta has glossy grey green leaves with small white fragrant flowers that smell divine even they are almost unseen. Makes a great rapid growing screening plant height can reach upto 3m with a spread of 2m if left alone.

Elaeagnus grow well in fertile, well-drained soil and is ideal for shady, windy or seaside positions but not cold or wet situations. In late summer cut back long or misplaced shoots using secateurs to keep it looking tidy.
