Cornus sanguinea ‘Anny’s Winter Orange’ – Brilliant Winter Stem Colour and Seasonal Drama
Cornus sanguinea ‘Anny’s Winter Orange’ is a stunning deciduous shrub celebrated for its intense, fiery orange-red stems that create a vivid splash of colour in the winter garden when most plants are dormant. This eye-catching feature makes it a favourite for adding architectural interest and warmth during the colder months.
In spring and summer, the shrub displays fresh, glossy green leaves that turn vibrant shades of deep purple and red in autumn, providing beautiful seasonal transitions. It produces inconspicuous clusters of small cream flowers in late spring, followed by small black berries that attract birds.
Typically growing to 2–3 metres tall and wide, ‘Anny’s Winter Orange’ thrives in well-drained soil and a sunny to partly shaded location, making it a versatile and hardy choice for a range of garden styles.
