Cherry Laurel Hedging – Evergreen Privacy and Year-Round Beauty
Cherry Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) is one of the UK’s most popular evergreen hedging plants – and for good reason. With its lush, glossy foliage, quick growth, and ability to thrive in almost any situation, it’s a top choice for creating a green, living screen that offers privacy, shelter, and timeless elegance.
Its large, deep-green leaves create a dense barrier that looks smart and well-kept all year round. In spring, delicate white flower spikes add seasonal interest and attract pollinators, followed by small berries loved by birds. Unlike many other hedging options, Cherry Laurel will grow happily in full sun, partial shade, or even deep shade, making it versatile for all garden aspects.
Fast-growing and forgiving, this hedge is perfect for marking boundaries, screening unsightly views, or providing wind protection. It responds well to regular trimming, which helps maintain its neat form and encourages bushy growth.
