Common name: Green Beech
Fagus sylvatica, commonly known as Green Beech, is a superb choice for formal hedging. It is deciduous but retains its coppery-brown autumn leaves through winter, offering near year-round screening. In spring and summer, it bears rich green, wavy-edged foliage, which clips neatly into a dense, elegant hedge.
This 60–80cm plant, grown in a 4-litre pot, is ideal for quick establishment and year-round planting. Beech is suited to most soils, except very wet or poorly drained ground, and thrives best in sun or partial shade. Clip once or twice yearly to maintain shape.
Perfect for classic garden boundaries, screening, or formal landscaping.
Ultimate height and spread (unclipped):
Up to 30m × 15m
Clipped height: 1.2m to 3m+
Position: Full sun to partial shade
Soil type: Well-drained; tolerates chalk
