Astrantia major 'Venice' is a stunning herbaceous perennial prized for its deep crimson-red, pincushion-like flowers and attractive dark green foliage. A favourite among gardeners, it brings colour, texture, and elegance to borders, cottage gardens, and wildlife-friendly planting schemes.

• Flowers: Deep ruby-red blooms with a starry, pincushion-like centre surrounded by a collar of delicate bracts. Blooms from early summer to autumn (June to September).

Deadhead spent flowers to encourage repeat blooming. Cut back foliage in late autumn after flowering. Divide clumps every 3-4 years in early spring to maintain vigour.
