Apple Cox's Orange Pippin Patio Fruit trees are compact, dwarf versions of the renowned Cox's Orange Pippin, one of the UK’s favourite and most famous apple varieties. Perfect for growing in small gardens, patios, or containers, this variety brings the rich, aromatic flavour of the traditional Cox's Orange Pippin to your own space, no matter the size.

Key Characteristics:

  • Size: This patio variety is designed to grow smaller than standard apple trees, making it perfect for patios, balconies, and small gardens.
  • Fruit: Produces medium-sized apples with a yellow-green skin flushed with orange-red. The flesh is crisp, sweet, and juicy, with a balanced tartness and an aromatic, almost honey-like flavor, making it ideal for both eating fresh and using in cooking.
  • Harvest Time: Ready to harvest in late September to October, these apples store well and develop an even richer flavour after picking.
  • Self-Sterility: Cox's Orange Pippin requires a nearby pollinating partner, such as Gala, Discovery, or Bramley, as it is not self-fertile. Planting another apple variety nearby ensures proper cross-pollination and a good harvest.

Growing Conditions:

  • Soil: Prefers well-drained, fertile soil, but adapts well to most types of garden soil, provided it is not waterlogged.
  • Light: Thrives in full sun, which encourages better fruiting and helps develop the rich flavour of the apples. It can tolerate some light shade, but full sun is recommended for the best results.
  • Watering: Requires regular watering, especially when grown in containers, as potted plants tend to dry out faster.
