Acer can be deciduous trees or large shrubs with paired, often palmately-lobed leaves and small flowers followed by characteristic winged fruits. Many have fine autumn colour, and some have ornamental stems.

Acer prefer to thrive in moist but well drained soil, and thrive best in full sun or partial shade.

Acer Platanoides Globosum is a small deciduous tree that forms a dense rounded mop head. Brownish-pink leaves turning green with age. Height can reach up to 6m.
