Acanthus Tasmanian Angel 3 Litre Pot

Acanthus Bear's breeches are grown for their tall imposing spikes of showy flowers making this an ideal perennial for the back of the border. Foliage is semi evergreen and is large, glossy and deeply lobed bright green. There are not many types commercially grown and they all have whitish flowers from purplish bracts. Be careful as each bract where the flower forms is guarded by quite nasty, hidden, sharp thorns. They are very architectural specimens with the flower spikes rising and developing as they grow taller and taller. The flowers are a good source of food for friendly insects and last right through from mid summer until they are frosted back in winter.

They like average garden soil in sun or shade and have deep roots from where they repopulate themselves every year. If you want to gain another plant simply dig up a chunk of root in winter and replant it elsewhere. The thorns are not a problem as you would usually plant this perennial at the back of an herbaceous border to give some height and structure. Protect crowns in with a big handful of compost for the first winter after planting, then thereafter they will sort themselves with that big old root. They are very popular and we sell out early every season. 

Acanthus Tasmanian Angel has showy white and pink flower bracts, making this an ideal perennial for the back of the border. Foliage is dark green and mottled with white splashes and touches of yellow when young.  Grows to 1.5 metre

Does the height include the pot?

No, we measure from the top of the pot to the tip of the plant except for some of the instant planted screens, in this case it will be stated in the description

How long does delivery take?

Most orders are delivered in just a few days, Smaller items are often sent with Parcelforce on a next day service, Larger items should allow up to 10 days due to the size of the items they often have to be sent on our own transport.

Where will you leave my plants?

We will leave your order at the front of your property, Parcelforce may
leave your items in a safe place if you let us know, Pallet couriers
will require a flat hard surface to deliver to, no gravel or soil, a
driveway or parking spot would be best. Most importantly Deliveries by
pallet courier will require access for a large truck (bin lorry sized)
to get near the delivery point. Deliveries sent on our own transport may come in a small van or larger truck.
