This outstanding cultivar has been specially selected for its superior stem strength and weather resistance. The robust habit makes it ideal for exposed sites, whilst the deep blue flowers and aromatic silver foliage maintain all the classic appeal of Russian sage with improved garden performance.
Late summer and early autumn bring masses of deep blue flower spikes on strong, upright stems. The silver-grey aromatic foliage provides excellent texture from late spring, while the sturdy white stems create striking winter structure.
Ideal for exposed borders, coastal gardens and windy sites. Perfect for prairie-style plantings and naturalistic schemes. Excellent in gravel gardens and Mediterranean-style plantings. Works beautifully in commercial landscapes requiring low maintenance.
Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Tolerates poor soil and exposed conditions exceptionally well. Very drought tolerant once established. Cut back hard to 15-30cm in mid-spring to maintain compact habit and encourage strong new growth. Avoid autumn pruning.
Outstanding with ornamental grasses like miscanthus and stipa. Complements late-flowering perennials including rudbeckia, echinacea and sedum. The deep blue flowers contrast beautifully with yellow achillea and orange kniphofia.
A superb choice for challenging sites requiring structure, late-season colour and pollinator value with exceptional weather resistance.
