A compact evergreen groundcover shrub with a neat spreading habit. Tiny glossy dark green leaves create a dense mat, studded with white flowers in early summer that give way to brilliant red berries persisting well into winter.
Groundcover on banks and slopes, rock gardens, front of borders, edging, covering walls, and wildlife gardens. Excellent for stabilising difficult areas and suppressing weeds.
Plant in any well-drained soil in full sun or part shade. Tolerates poor soils, drought, and exposed positions once established. Minimal pruning needed; trim lightly after flowering if required to maintain shape. Very low maintenance.
Combines well with spring bulbs, Heuchera, dwarf conifers, ornamental grasses, and other low-growing evergreens. The red berries complement late-flowering Aster and Sedum beautifully.
A reliable evergreen workhorse that provides year-round interest and invaluable winter food for birds with minimal effort required.
