A beautiful deciduous subshrub valued for its stunning late-season display of brilliant blue flowers and colourful autumn foliage. This compact plant brings vibrant colour when many other plants are fading.
From late summer through to the first frosts, masses of intense gentian-blue flowers appear above the foliage. In autumn, the leaves turn attractive shades of red and bronze before falling.
Ideal for the front of sunny borders, cottage gardens, and mixed plantings. Works well in gravel gardens and provides valuable late-season interest alongside ornamental grasses and perennials.
Plant in full sun or light shade in well-drained soil. Can be cut back hard in spring to encourage fresh growth and abundant flowering. Tolerates drought once established. Benefits from mulching in colder areas.
Combines beautifully with sedums, rudbeckias, asters, and ornamental grasses. The blue flowers complement the warm tones of autumn perennials and the red foliage echoes autumn colour schemes.
A must-have plant for extending colour and interest into autumn in sunny gardens.
