Photinia produces vivid red new leaves in spring and again after trimming. As the foliage matures, it deepens to a glossy dark green, creating strong contrast and visual interest throughout the year.

As well as hedging, Photinia × fraseri ‘Red Robin’ is a superb standalone shrub and can be trained as a standard or small tree for a striking specimen. Often called red tip photinia, its flame-red new growth matures to glossy dark green, giving colour right through the year. Why is my Red Robin not red?
The vivid red is the new growth. A trim in spring and early summer encourages fresh flushes of red foliage; plenty of sun also intensifies the colour.
How fast does Red Robin grow?
