This refined cultivar offers a more compact alternative to traditional Russian sage whilst maintaining all the desirable characteristics of the species. The exceptionally fine, lacy silver foliage creates beautiful textural interest, whilst clear sky-blue flower spikes provide abundant late-season colour beloved by pollinators.
Late summer brings masses of clear sky-blue flower spikes above the silvery foliage. The finely divided aromatic leaves provide outstanding texture from late spring through autumn, while silvery stems add winter structure after flowering.
Ideal for smaller borders and containers where a compact form is desired. Perfect for Mediterranean and gravel gardens. Excellent in prairie-style plantings and alongside roses. Works beautifully in sunny courtyards and on hot, dry banks.
Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Thrives in poor to moderately fertile conditions - avoid rich soil which encourages soft growth. Water during establishment but very drought tolerant once settled. Cut back hard to 15-30cm in mid-spring for best results. Avoid pruning in autumn.
Beautiful alongside ornamental grasses, gaura and compact sedums. The fine silver foliage contrasts wonderfully with bold-leaved plants like achillea and echinacea. Blue flowers complement yellow coreopsis and orange crocosmia.
An exceptional choice for adding fine texture, late-season colour and pollinator value to smaller gardens with minimal maintenance.
