Morus alba ‘Pendula’ – Weeping Mulberry Standard with Graceful Cascading Form
Morus alba ‘Pendula’ trained as a standard is a beautiful ornamental tree, prized for its elegant weeping habit and broad leafy canopy. Supported on a clear stem with a rounded cascading crown, it forms a striking umbrella-like silhouette that creates instant architectural interest in the garden.
The large fresh green leaves provide lush seasonal texture and gentle shade through spring and summer, while the pendulous branches soften planting schemes with their flowing form. Over time, the canopy develops increasing character, with branches naturally arching downwards to create a dramatic focal point.
Supplied in a substantial 45 litre pot with a strong 10–12cm girth stem, it offers immediate maturity and impact, making it ideal for feature planting in lawns, courtyards, and formal gardens.
In warm seasons, mature specimens may occasionally produce small edible mulberries, adding an extra ornamental and wildlife-friendly feature.
Thriving in full sun, Morus alba ‘Pendula’ prefers fertile, well-drained soil and performs best in sheltered positions where the graceful branching can be fully appreciated.
Hardy, reliable, and relatively low maintenance, it requires only light pruning to maintain shape and remove unwanted growth.
Elegant, sculptural, and full of character, this weeping mulberry is an exceptional choice for adding movement and structure to the garden.
