Fertilising Half and Quarter Standards involves using a balanced, slow-release fertiliser during the growing season to promote healthy growth. Apply the fertiliser in early spring and again in mid-summer, following the package instructions for the appropriate amount based on the tree's size. Spread the fertiliser evenly around the base of the tree, avoiding direct contact with the trunk. Water the area thoroughly after application to help the nutrients penetrate the soil. Additionally, consider using a high-potassium fertiliser in late summer to prepare the trees for winter. Proper fertilisation ensures your standards stay vibrant and strong.
